Ebony J. and Kingdom Rhythms (KR) is the fusion of two artists creating the dynamic and powerful sound of soul and rock. The combining of this group has produced sharp lyrics and smooth vocals associated with soul while tying in the edge and energy of rock. Although their time together has been brief, since Ebony J. and KR united in June of 2007 they have played at venues such as the Minnesota State Fair Crossroads Chapel and are currently Finalists in the Club 3 Degrees 2008 Music Tournament.

The unique style of Ebony J and KR was influenced by each artists’ distinct background. Ebony’s love of music was developed amidst traditional gospel, soul, and R&B while being exposed to the rock culture of the Midwest. She has been influenced by artists such as CeCe Winans, Nicole C. Mullen, Lauryn Hill, Switchfoot, and P.O.D. As a group KR…. With such an eclectic musical palette Ebony J. and KR are bound to produce music that will captivate generations and transcend cultures with the message that it is possible to know truth, and a belief that God is real and relevant to our lives.

He went on to play the drums for his high school bands and would rock out with his friends after school. He played in bands in the Twin Cities in the early 1990s with a pop punk band "Barah" and shared the stage with local hipsters like "Planet Melvin" and "Greazy Meal". In 1993 he joined another local band "Liquid Ernie" headed by TC local legend Sam Keenan, greatly influenced by Elvis Costello, XTC, Nirvan, Pearl Jam, Tom Waites and throw in some swing. They played together for seven years in the Minneapolis club scene and in coffee shops everywhere from Madison WI to Minot ND.

AJ now plays drums for Kingdom Rhythms the funky backing band for Ebony J.

"boogie joe"
boogie joe (November 7, 1903 in Vienna) is an Austrian zoologist, animal psychologist, ornithologist and Nobel Prize winner. He is often regarded as one of the founders of modern ethology, developing an approach that began with an earlier generation, including his teacher Oskar Heinroth. Boogie studied instinctive behavior in animals, especially in greylag geese and jackdaws. Working with geese, he rediscovered the principle of imprinting (originally described by Douglas Spalding in the 19th century) in the behavior of nidifugous birds.

One hot night in July 1997, boogie was working in the lab and drank a bit too much prune juice. He has since been prohibited to come within 10 yards of any goose and most feathered farm animals.

sharell aka LSG
Originally from Selma, Alabama her family moved to Minneapolis and has been there ever since. Sharell has been around music all of her life. She had her first taste of music at a young age thanks to her father FredRico Lawler, a former bass player for B.B. King, who has also shared the stage with Daddy I & the Baby Boys, Markiss & Shades of Color, Reflections of Time and Ginger Patterson. From her father’s home studio, Sharell watched and listened to great music over the years and was destined to become a musician herself. FredRico taught her to play keyboards and passed on to his daughter his still current passion for music--her own skills would develop over time.

Combined with the drive and desire for music and worship, Sharell joined Minneapolis Believer’s in Christ church. At the age of 15, she would join their praise and worship team and still serves as their keyboard player and praise and worship leader for their summer leadership program. It was through this church that she would connect with Kingdom Rhythms. Their teamwork has enhanced each member’s ability to work together and enjoy music ministry in a whole new style.

Sharell is a current undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota with an individualized major combining dance, music, and art. Her hobbies include: drawing, shopping, video games, keyboard playing, listening to music, dancing and learning Chinese.
